The quick background story for any RV trip we take is the fact I've wanted an RV since I was about 8 years old. I grew up in Minnesota and Dad would take us to Northern Minnesota (Two Harbors) smelting at the end of April. Smelt are small fish that run from Lake Superior into the creeks to spawn. They run so thick for about a week you can catch them with dip nets. If you catch the run right, you can fill 55 gallon garbage cans with smelt. At least other people could. My Dad had a Monday thru Friday job so we could only go on weekends. The smelt seemed to know this and typically ran during the middle of the week. One year we caught two smelt. Another we caught zero. Our best year filled a couple garbage bags.
Anyway, we'd freeze to death every year and I always envied the people who'd arrive in their Winnebago Braves. So I always wanted one ever since. Three years ago I bought a used Winnebago Brave with cash money and I still pinch myself everytime we climb into it.
Another reason I like the Winnebago is we can take the dogs on our trips. It's large enough to hold them and comfortable enough to leave them behind for a few hours to explore, hike or shop. I like my dogs better than I like many people and if you're a dog person, you understand. If not, you never will.
