15 Ways to Maximize Flea Market Sales

First impressions are lasting impressions.
Remember, you are displaying someone else's "Treasure" not your "Junk"

1. Don't be late! Make sure you are set-up and ready by 7:30am.

2. Line up everything you sell in an orderly manner.

3. Entice your customers by creating your space to appear like a showroom.

4. Provide free items such as candy, balloons, lemonade or even free flyers.

5. Flea market shoppers prefer to pay cash in simple denominations such as $1.00, $5.00 or even $.25. Make sure you have a cash bank to make change for shoppers.

6. It is better to set your prices slightly higher so that you have room to barter down.

7. Wash any toys or merchandise that look dirty or unsanitary.

8. Few people will buy soiled or dirty clothing. Wash your sale clothing, place it on hangers, and mark sizes plainly on pieces of paper attached with stick pins.

9. Label and price everything.

10. Never use a pen or magic marker to write prices directly onto an item. This will immediately reduce the value of the item. Use masking tape or self-adhesive labels instead.

11. Don't be afraid to talk to people who stop at your space to browse. People are attracted to vendors who are loaded with fascinating information about the items they have for sale.

12. Let the buyer know when they are getting a great bargain.

13. Set up a canopy to give your space a professional look, and protect you from the sun and rain.

14. Make signs or tie balloons to your table or canopy to get people's attention and interest.

15. Don't be embarrassed to bargain. It's part of the flea market tradition!
