What it Feels Like After Quitting That Job

By Mike Johnson

I slept in that first Monday after quitting my last necktie job. Dressed in jeans. Drove to the supermarket. Parked in the front spot. The aisles were empty. The store was mine.

I lollygagged as if touring an art gallery. For the first time, I realized I was surrounded by colorful, creative, capitalist genius.

Cream of Wheat. Aunt Jemima. Kellogg's Corn Flakes. The masters.

So this is how freedom feels on weekdays!

After decades chained to the 9-5, I felt like I was playing hooky. The difference being, I never went back.

That was 30 years ago, this month.

Thirty Years.

Holy crap.

I’ve told the stories of those years through many posts & articles. Writers document. Content multiplies. It’s linked for all to see. The journey was both glorious & grim.

Yet here I am. Early retired. Leaving bread crumbs for those who want to escape costumes, commutes, kooky coworkers & conscription to calendars.

The fastest way to achieve your desires is to study people who have already achieved what you want.

That worked for me. I recommend you try it too.
