Replay

If you could go for another spin,
Would you do it all just the same again?

Would you steal that cigar?
Play the guitar?
Throw up again in that bar?
Kiss that girl in the boxcar?

Or would you calculate new math,
Erase your head and take a new path?

One of my all-time favorite books is "Replay." Written in 1986 by Ken Grimwood, the book is a precursor to "Groundhog Day."

In 1988, Jeff Winston dies at age 43 and wakes up in his 18-year-old body in 1963. He replays these same 25 years multiple times.

This gives him the opportunity to take different paths through experience, wealth, romance, education, and even stabs at changing the world.

He remembers every replay, operating from a base of knowing what will happen in advance, until he makes a change.
This leads to some fascinating tangents that we all might imagine in our own lives.

I reread the book every year. I highly recommend it.

If you could go for another spin,
Would you do it all just the same again?

Or would you stop living grey and embrace the buffet?
Would you blow through foreplay and go all the way?
Would you make the one who got away your fiancé?
Just what would you parlay if you could replay?
