If animals are angels with fur, cats and dogs are guardian angels on a mission.
People love their pets as much or more than people because pets are free of nasty human nature.
In this realm, even a spouse might betray you.
Not so a cat or dog.
Dogs love enthusiastically, consistently and unconditionally.
Cats fancy you too, but understate it so you don’t get cocky.
Dogs answer your calls, cats take a message and get back to you.
Sixty percent of Americans own at least one cat or dog.
Millennials have the highest percentage of pet ownership.
As the traditional family unit shrinks, pet ownership grows.
People need love.
If they don’t get it from other people, they know where to look.
Pet love is a sure thing.
Pet industry revenues surpassed $300 billion in 2023 and are growing 16 percent per year.
From doggie daycare, to mittens for kittens, people repay pet love by finding new ways to pamper.
Seeing this, more businesses and hotels become pet-friendly each day.
In a way, the growth of pet ownership reveals society’s failures.
The breakdown of the family.
Loss of social skills due to technology.
Fewer marriages, fewer children, fewer close friends.
The need for more and more "service animals" just to function in society.
Through it all, have been introverts.
We've always found people exhausting but pets energizing.
But pets’ 10-to-15-year lifespan exacts a high price in built-in mourning.
Unlike people, you’re pretty sure you’re going to outlive your pets.
And start mourning in advance as they age.
But the unconditional love is worth it.
RICHLY worth it.
