It’s a kooky world.
You can gain a dream, or be chained by a dream.
There is a fine line between owning a thing and the thing owning you.
Home ownership requires time, energy and money.
By saying yes to one location, you’re saying no to every other location.
It’s a big world.
Better make sure your choice is inspiring enough to generate staying power.
The challenge is, nothing stays the same.
Homes weather.
Appliances break.
Neighbors move.
Communities evolve or devolve.
Then there are changes in YOU.
Energy declines.
Physical demands increase.
Interests change.
Tolerance for to-do lists shrinks.
Nothing lasts forever.
My father lived in his lake home for 39 years.
He said he wanted to die in that house.
He achieved his goal.
I’m a piker, I’ve only lived here 17 years.
I could die here.
Or not.
There are so many other choices.
Saying yes to one, says no to others.
Saying no to the world too often, shrinks your life.
Or, looked at from a higher perspective, offers the opportunity for inner exploration and growth.
Inner choices are also infinite, but without the messiness of all that external change.
It takes some outer success to achieve the solitude required for inner success.
But the outer, no matter how enticing, how challenging, how epic, only takes you to the gate of solitude.
Now you must release your focus on the outer to enter the inner.
From right where you are.
If you walk away from that opportunity, you’re off your rocker.
